B1/B2 stay extension

Hi,
I am on business visit to USA & my I94 is valid thru March 2006. I have 2 questions:

Q1 : If I make an application for extension of stay (I-539) & if I don't receive any reply on approval / deniel of extention, what should I do ? Should I have to leave immediately or can stay back ?

Q2 : If my extension application (I539) gets rejected, does it mean that my basic visa (B1/B2 Visa) - at present valid thru year 2015 - is also cancelled ?

Kindly advice ?

Hi,
I got approval from USCIS till date I asked for. Surprisingly, I received approval in less than 5 week of application, whereas they says applicants will get reply after 150 days (5 month).
