  • B1/B2 expired in April 2015. Should I apply to renew B1/B2 or apply for B2?

    Hello,

My B1/B2 expired in April 2015.
My upcoming US visit is purely to visit family.
In future though, I may want to travel on business, just that there is no document to show that as of now.
Should I apply to renew B1/B2 or apply for B2 only?

My B1/B2 which has expired was granted to me when I was in Mumbai.
We will be applying for visa from HK where we are currently based out of.
Will this have any bearing on my visa application?

    Thank you

Hi They most likely give both B1/B2 visas instead of giving only 1 type of visa & in you case you can apply under Interview waiver program also and as your earlier visa is B1/B2 you can can apply for the same again.

below is the eligibility for interview waiver program visa fee USD 160 Aprox 10880
I have a previous U.S. visa in the same class as the visa for which I wish to apply
My most recent visa was issued in India
I received my visa after January 1, 2008
My prior visa is not annotated “Clearance Received” or “Department Authorization”.
My most recent visa (in the same class for which I am applying) was issued on or after my 14th birthday
I have no refusals for a visa in any class after my most recent visa issuance
If I am applying for any other class of visa, my prior visa in the same class is still valid or expired within the last 48 months.

    procedure
a)fill visa form DS 160 (must note alphanumeric no which generate on very first page) through this link https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/default.aspx after sign and submitting application online it will generate DS 160 Confirmation page
b)visit this site register on it http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/index.html?firstTime=No create profile and pay visa fee online or pay at your nearest Citibank Branch fee is USD 160 Aprox inr 10880
c)after doing that login again to this site http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/index.html?firstTime=No and schedule appointment aprox after 2 to 3 hrs after payment done you will be able to schedule appointment for Biometric and they will collect your passport at the time of Biometric only at OFC Center which you can collect back after 5-6 days after visa endorsed on your passport.
