Is B1 possible when H1B processing is going on?

Hello,

I have got an offer from an US Company and they have started processing my H1 Visa. It is expected to be approved by August. But meanwhile my present Company is forcing me to apply for B1 Visa because of some immediate short Business Trip. So, can anyone give me some information about whether I can apply for B1 when my H1 Visa processing is already on process.

Will the H1 petition be cancelled if apply for B1 when my H1 Visa processing is already on process?

2. No. You can have both.

You can go for your B1 stamping for the present employer. Your H1B is quite independant of the B1. After you travel on b1 and return you can again go to the consulate for your H1B stamping. At that time, your B1 visa might be cancelled without prejudice, as a person cannot have 2 non-immigrant status while entering the US.
