  • B-1 Visa: Option to ask for 1 year Stay in US at Port of Entry

    Hi Moderator,

I am doctor and have 10 year multiple entry visa. I have already entered US twice but unfortunately I did not match this year.
1)So I want to know whether i can ask for stay upto 1 year at port of entry when i enter next time. Can I show the printed materials showing the need for my presence for more than 6 months as i am planning to do an observership in US.
2)What are the chances of it being granted to chance of rejecting and making my third visit stay to less than 6 months in suspicion that i am doing some work here.
3)Is it correct to ask for more than 6 months as my residency application process is causing a lot burden on my parents
    4) Can i get a stay upto 10 months if possible rather than 12 months

    Thank you in advance

I do not think that is possible. Max they grant is 6 months which goes well with the scope of a visitor visa. If you ask one year it is not a VISIT but a STAY. I suggest you do not ask that long a stay because for one thing it wont be granted, for second, they will suspect you to have immigrant intent.
