  • Freelancer applying for B1 visa

    Hi,

I am a IT freelancer from India working for a US client.

I need to attend a conference in US for which I have applied B1 visa.
Now I am doubtful if visa will be granted to me or not as I am not formally associated with any company. How can I prove visa officers that I have strong ties to India?

I'll be carrying the following documents

    - Conference Invitation letter
    - Letter from my client mentioning that its helpful for their business if I attend the conference and also stating that they'll bear all my expenses
    - Hotel reservation confirmation
    - Return flight e-ticket
    - my Bank Statement
    - Recent Invoices I sent to client

    What else do I need?

I don't have tax returns for last 2 years as I worked in Europe during that time and my tax was deducted there.

My visa interview is scheduled in next few days. Please advise how can I be prepared.

    Regards,
    Himanshu

            Status Update

No I did not get my visa. It was refused on grounds of 214(b) (no strong ties with home country).
Infact I applied for B1 again after a year & this time I was working with a compnay, it still got refused.
Not sure what they are looking at. Maybe I'm a bachelor, that's why.
