B1/B2 Visa 221 g refusal

Hi all,
I had B1/B2 visa interview today and the Visa officed said my visa is refused and asked for further documentation under 221 g
The Visa officer has given me a White paper that says Administrative Processing and asked me to submit the listed documents to the email Id provided in that paper.
My question here is VO didnt return my passport? Is that ok?
how long does it take this process to complete as my passport is taken and now I cannot travel?

Sorry to hear that! Seems like its a very hard process. I have a query. I am trying to get B1/B2 for my self and my wife. We plan to visit our kids at US.
I want to give my interview in Hindi at Mumbai VAC.
I paid money 5 months back but had no luck booking the slot. Everytime I try, it says, slot booked and try next day.
Any tips/advice would be helpful.
