Hello, I have a question that's gotten me in a bit of a bind of what to do/how to approach it. I'm in the process of filling out my n-400 form and I've listed every trip I've taken outside of the US in the relevant section. Now, my earliest trip is partially outside of the 5 year period being considered for the application (that is, it began 5 years and a couple of months ago).
Regardless, I'm obviously putting the correct date I left/returned to the US, but my question is what should I to do about when listing the total number of days for that specific trip? Should I put the total number of days it lasted even though I'm counting a couple of months beyond the 5 year period? Or rather, should I only list the number of days within the 5 year period (those that are relevant to the application)?
Now, if I include the complete total number of days for that trip, it would make it look like I've been out of the US for more than the allowed time required within a 5 year period i.e. it would look like I've been out of the US for more than 30 months when in fact I haven't. Hence the uncertainty of what to do.
Another possibility would be to attach a separate piece of paper explaining this, is this something that is advisable? I'm just wondering if anybody else has had experience with something like this or has a suggestion of what would be the best approach. I know this was a lot, thanks for reading this!
