  • N-400 Questions

    Hi:
I just got married. I plan to apply for Citizenship by the last week of February. I am still to change my last name. I intend to change it as soon as I can.

The Form N-400, part-1, sect. (A) asks for your current legal name. Further Sect. (B) asks for the name as it exactly appears on your Permanent Resident Card. Does this mean that I donot need to change my name in my passport and on Permanent Resident card before I apply for Citizenship? In other words, does this mean that I can put my new last name in Sect. (A) and use my maiden name in Sect. (B)?

Additionally, can I simply have my name changed on Driving License etc. (without changing it in the passport and Greencard) and use the DL and a certified copy of our marraige certificate as a proof of change of name?

    Please advise.

    Regards
    Spatel
