  • N-400 Evidence - account for highlighting key information on some documents

    Hello,

My spouse and I are working on the language for cover letter for N-400 evidence. As it appears to be possible to submit application and evidence electronically, we are submitting all evidence as a PDF.

We are adding highlights to key information in some of the evidence in effort to aid the reader in locating the info. For example, flight confirmation details, or tax returns, - we are including the entire document, 95% of which is irrelevant - but then highlighting the key information.

For official / legal documents (marriage cert, child's birth certificate, etc.), no highlights are being added. Documents will remain exactly as copied.

    Ultimately, we are wondering:

1.) How should we account for these highlights in cover page language? For the official / legal documents, we can use pretty standard language: "..exact photocopies of unaltered/original documents."

However, struggling with the language for "non-official / non-legal" documents.

2.) We thinking of just scrapping the highlights and using the standard "exact photocopies" language to account for everything, but we genuinely want to try and make it easier for whoever has to review this case. As such, figured we would ask before scrapping.

Any thoughts or insight is greatly appreciated.

There is no need to submit a cover letter. Nor no need to include flight confirmation details.

      Keep it simple.
If you are eligible to apply, only submit the required information needed for filing.
You can take all other documents for the interview.
Opinion only. Cannot be construed as legal advice.
