  • "Payment SMS: Correct Receipt Number?"

Completed DS-160, paid MRV Fees via IMPS, got two 12-digit numbers in bank SMS. Confused about next steps, entering numbers on cgifederal site results in an error. Is the SMS 12-digit number my receipt number? If yes, which one to use? Eligible for waiver, no interview needed; do I still book an appointment? Need guidance.

Since you are eligible for a waiver and do not require an interview, you do not need to schedule a chatrandom echat appointment. The next step is to wait for your MRV fee payment to be processed. Once your payment is processed, you will receive a confirmation email from the U.S. Department of State. This email will contain your visa application confirmation number. You can use this confirmation number to track the status of your visa application online.

Here is a summary of the next steps:
    1. Wait for your MRV fee payment to be processed. You can check the status of your payment online using either of your 12-digit MRV fee receipt numbers.
    2. Once your payment is processed, you will receive a confirmation email from the U.S. Department of State. This email will contain your visa application confirmation number.
    3. Use your visa application confirmation number to track the status of your visa application online.

You should also keep a copy of your DS-160 confirmation page and your MRV fee receipt for your records.

      Don't worry, I can help!
      1. Yes, the 12-digit numbers are likely your MRV fee receipt numbers. One could be the transaction ID and the other the actual receipt number. Both might be relevant, so keep them both handy.
      2. You don't need to book an appointment as you're eligible for the waiver and have no interview.
      3. Skip entering the numbers on the CGI Federal site. For waiver cases, scheduling happens through the embassy/consulate directly.
      4. Contact the embassy/consulate you're applying through. Explain you completed the DS-160, paid fees, and are eligible for the waiver. Ask how to proceed with submitting your application and receiving the waiver confirmation.

Remember to include your receipt numbers when contacting the embassy/consulate.

Here are some additional resources that might be helpful:
I hope this clarifies things! Don't hesitate to ask if you have any other questions.

You can reply with "Can you provide the receipt number?" This way, you can verify it before confirming.

Hey there, it can be confusing navigating the visa process! Here's some guidance:
          1. Yes, the 12-digit numbers in your bank SMS are most likely your MRV receipt numbers. You should have received two since you paid the visa fee twice (IMPS might send a confirmation and a separate payment successful message).
          2. You don't necessarily need to enter those numbers on the CG Federal website if you're eligible for a waiver and interview waiver. However, those numbers might be useful while scheduling an appointment (if needed) or contacting the embassy for any questions.
          3. Since you have a waiver and interview waiver, booking an appointment might not be necessary. Double-check the embassy's website or contact them directly to confirm if an appointment is still required.

Here's what you can do next:
          • Check the embassy's website for specific instructions for waivered cases.
          • If unsure about needing an appointment, contact the embassy for clarification.
          • Keep the MRV receipt numbers handy (you can use either one).

Hopefully this clarifies things! Don't hesitate to ask if you have any more questions.

The information on the website or a confirmation email from the embassy/consulate should clarify this.
