Hi, I am from Japan and staying here as an Au Pair(J1 visa) and my Au Pair year will finished end of this month.
I would like to change my visa status to B2 to travel around USA and visit my friends. I have about a month to stay here after DS2019 expired (grace month) but I want to have more time for myself.
For the information, my J1 visa will expired on March 2. 2010 and my DS2019 will expired January 31. 2010. I-94 has same expire date. I am not subject to 2 year requirement.
My qiestions are:
Which paper should I fill out? just I-539?
What should I prepare and send to get B2 visa?
Should I done this paper work by when?
Do I need to have my return flight ticket now? (If I can get B2 visa, I prefer to buy my return flight after traveling)
How long does it takes normally?
If I can't get answer from USCIS by March 2, 2010, can I stay here till get answer or do I need to leave here by March 2, 2010?
