I worked in the US as a research scholar for 5 years under a J1, and then switched to a H1B for a yeah and a half. I left the US to work in a different country, but would be interested in pursuing opportunities in the US again. From what I have seen, even though I was not subject to the 2 year home requirement, it seems at least 24 months must have elapsed before I am eligible for a J1 again; is that correct? If so, does the time I was on a H1B count towards this requirement, or does it need to be 24 months after leaving the US? Thank you.
