Can I apply for J2 VISA before marriage

Hi all,

I am a postdoctoral fellow working in USA on J1 VISA. I am getting married in the beginning of July, 2011. I want to apply for the J2 VISA for my would be wife now (before the marriage) and get an interview date which will fall after the marriage. This way, we would not be married at the time of applying and getting an interview date but would be married at the time of the interview and will have marriage certificate and all other relevant documents then. Can somebody suggest if this would not lead to any trouble. Has somebody got J2 this way? I would appreciate your comments and suggestions.

You can apply for the visa before the marraige. Application in your term is merely filling out the DS-160 form and paying the HDFC bank receipt.

The actual application is the visa interview and that has to be after the wedding.
