Working online in Australia whilst in USA on K-1 Visa

Does the 8 you refer to no(t) mean “Title 8”? As I understand that definition applies to all mentions of employment, because I don’t know of another legal definition of employment with(in) the CFR?

It says "this part", not "this title". The part is Part 274a. So it does not apply to any other part of Title 8, including part 214. Definitions that apply to 8 CFR 1 through 499 are provided in 8 CFR 1.2, which does not include a definition of "employment". Sometimes terms in the law are not specifically defined, but that doesn't mean that the definition for part 274a applies.
