  • H1 B Visa re stamping

    Hello,

I currently hold a vaid HiB Visa and valid I-94. I have recently changed my employment and I also hold the appoval from INS (of the change of employment).

    My doubt is...

    1) Do I need to go for restamping of the Visa due to change of employment ?
(One INS Officer has recently told me that it would be preferable, if I go for Visa restamping).

    2) And if so, do I need to go back to India for such stamping or can I get this done in US / Canada ?

    Pl guide me.

    Thanks

    Peter

    Hi peter,
As long as you continue to stay in the US, you do not have to bother about getting your passport stamped. You do not have to specifically travel to India for this purpose. But if you really have to travel to India for some reason, then it becomes mandatory to have your passport stamped with your new H1.
Its advisable not to travel to Mexico/Canada for this purpose, because i have known of cases, where they send the person back to the homeland from Canada/Mexico, to get the stamping.
