Ex-employer h1 petition

Dear All,

I have recently transferred my H1B to new employer and my new H1B is valid for another 3 years. I have resigned from old job but my ex-employer is asking to return original H1B petition. If I return my ex-employer H1B petition, would there be any problem in future?
My new employer is ready to apply green card for me, in future, anytime; do I need my ex-employer H1B petition?
I would highly appreciate your help.

You can give them the original approval notice. But keep copies with you for future records.
