  • Change status from H4 to H1B

When I was in India, I applied my H1B. My H1B approval got delayed. I came to US on H4. Now I got my H1B Approved.

    1. What should I do now to obtain an SSN and start working.
    2. Is it possible to do an H1B Transfer.

    Thanks

    1. What should I do now to obtain an SSN and start working. -- You will first need to change your status to H1. Either your employer can file amendment to change your status or you can leave the US, obtain H1 Visa and return. You can only start working after change of status effective. But after change of status, you must start working. SSN is irrelevant in all this. But you can apply only when you are in H1 status.
    2. Is it possible to do an H1B Transfer. -- Yes, another employer can file a cap-exempt petition for you.

    Thanks
