Question on Approval Notice - I797

I got my H1 visa transfered a month back. I'm still to get the approval notice (i797) from my employer.

1) Is it mandatory for the employer to share the approval notice with the employee?

Yes, since the new approval notice will have your new I-94, they need to provide you with at least the bottom part of the notice. (Assuming you have joined the new employer).
