Which travel route should be take while travel to India to get our VISA Stamping

My husband got his H1 extended till Dec 2014 and we are planning to travel India for a family function and I understand we will need to get our visa stamped before return.
Could you please advise which route should we take or which countries should we avoid while travelling to India.

Do not travel to uk for sure if your visa was issued 6 months before you travel.
I had a bad experience when British airways won't let me board because my visa was issued more than 6 months ago.
