H1B Petition Approved with Old Passport Details

Hi Gurus,

I got my H1 petition approved. Problem is my form is filled with all old passport details in the petition. (Like in Old passport, Given Name - YYYY YYY Surname - blank and in new one, with a different passport number I have is Given name - YYYY Surname - YYY). What changes do I need to do in the normal H1B process & how do I make required changes?

Your employer needs to file that correction/amendment.

Could you be a little more specific? I mean where can I find the process?

If the mistake is on part of USCIS, the employer only needs to submit a correction request and they will quickly resolve it.

If it is employer's mistake, they will need to file petition amendment. The employer or their lawyer will know the procedure.

It is important to get the name changed, because not having a last name can create problems later.
