Employer change on OPT (H1B approved for Jan'06)

Hello,

I am currently on my OPT with approval for H1B visa with my current employer beginning from January 2006. I am looking for better opportunities in terms of professional achievement than my current employer provides. I am wondering if it is possible to change employers while before the duration of H1B actually kicks in. It is very likely that my job profile would change slightly.

I gather the new employer would still have to file the I-129 form. However, for my current visa is under the quota for US graduates would this in anyway help/hinder my application?

I’d very much appreciate if you could please share your experiences &/or advice (legal or otherwise) on this.

Since the H1B cap has reached, you can start working for this employer A and then try to get another job while working so that your Employer B can file for your H1B transfer.
