  • Wrong Surname in H1B petition

    Hi,
    I had been granted H1B visa for 2014 cap, for which I have to go for stamping.
    My passport is not having surname and printed name is only "Umesh", while my visa was applied by adding my surname (Gupta) also and petition was approved for the name of "Umesh Gupta".
    I am going to renew and will be adding my surname on the same. As petition is already approved with my current passport number, will it be any issue to go for a stamping with new visa with added surname?
    Mentioned below are the summery of information;
    Petition approved with name : Umesh Gupta
    Name on current passport: Umesh
    Current passport Number : xxxx

    Name to be printed on new passport to get stamping: Umesh Gupta
    New Passport number : yyyy

    Thanks and Regards,
    Umesh

    That is fine. It is good that you are updating your passport before applying for the Visa at the Consulate.
    This is my opinion and not legal advice.
