H1 Visa, easy or not?

Hi, I'm from Canada and just finished my graduate program. I wish to come work in usa for about 1 year or 2 and was wondering if it was easy to get an employer sponsorship and get a work permit or H1 Visa??

What should I do to get a job in usa, should I do in distance from here or come in usa for a period of time and look for a job there?
