    Dear All,

i have just arrived to USA

    Surname :

    Visa
    Given Name : FNU
    Surname : Arvind Kumar

    I94
    Given Name: Arvind
    Surname : Kumar

now i am going to CBP to change I-94 details as per visa.

Plz help me on this question

    1. if i-94 and SSN will also have FNU like visa, can i get Driving license in California with FNU???
    2. if my SSN will be with FNU, Then for kids admission in school do i have give father name as "Arvind Kumar" or "FNU Arvind Kumar"
    3. if i want to change my name(Name Split) in passport should i do it before getting SSN or after SSN??

    Fnu

I had the same issue. However 194 also had FNU in it.
So all license, SSN etc had FNU even. (Not in CA).

Later got passport changed and next visa stamp corrected the issue.. And got it corrected everywhere including SSN/DL
Once you are in the US usually no agency would look for the name in Visa. All of the follow the I-94. So if you dont have FNU in I94 you are lucky and I dont think you need to even get it changed

yes i think i can get SSN also with split name, as I-94 have split name.

but DMV will accept it or not??? as i heard they check the passport and visa also

Not sure about "CA". I guess there is no clear guideline on it. In "FL" they don't even look into Visa.
