Clarification on start work date

Hi all,

Recently I got my H1 stamped at Delhi consulate.
To share with the experience,
I was from South India and currently working in a big MNC A. I had a L1 stamped on my passport. The VO just had a look at the L1 stamp. He asked me why I wanted to leave this MNC A. I told about nature of job at US company B. He dint bother to ask for any of my documents and right away told your visa will be issued.
And I recieved my passport with H1 stamped yesterday.

And my question is I've my H1b visa issue date as Sep 27,2005 and expiry as oct 31,2008.
But my petition is approved from Nov 1, 2005 til oct 31, 2008.

When could I start working for the US company?

When would I be eligible to enter the US?

The US company told I would be eligible to enter US 10days before my petition start day i.e any date after oct 20.

Please clarify my questions.

Can you please tell me whether your L1 stamping is still valid or was it cancelled without prejudice?

Hi Veena,

My L1 was cancelled without prejudice. Also my L1 had expired (expiry date 15th aug) by the time I went for stamping.
