I797 extension and passport expiring

Hi,
My H1b visa is expiring in June 2015 and my passport is expiring on June 2016. I am planning to file extension on early 2015 so will I get extension approved till the passport validity? Or passport expiry doesn't matter while extension?
Or can I apply for renewal of passport in early 2015 before applying visa extension?

Passport expiry doesn't matter but if it is very close to expiry then they may ask you to get a new one. Yes, I-94 would mostly be issued till passport expiry if passport is expiring before the visa.

No, I dont think you can do so for Indian passports.
