H1B work permit about to expire

My work permit is expiring on 06 Dec 2014. I have not traveled to US yet and i dont see any opportunities from my current account. I will therefore have to file an amendment and then raise a request for stamping. I wanted to know if i do not get my Visa stamped before 06 June 2014 (ie 6 months prior to Visa expiry) what will be the consequences.

What kind of "consequences"? When was the initial H1 petition filed?
