Hello,
I ended up sending my Indian passport details and the copy to an unknown person in the name of rental apartment application. A couple of questions in that regard.
1. Can the Indian Embassy issue me a duplicate passport with a new Passport number?
2. If they do, what will happen to my H-1b stamping and I-94 attached to my old passport? My H-1b stamping is valid till September this year. Will it continue to be valid?
3. Can Indian Embassy place an alert on my passport to make sure no one can conduct a fraud using my name, passport number and other details?
Any thoughts are much appreciated.
