H1 extension joint filing

Hi,

My visa is expiring in Jan 2006, my wife is in India now. I came to US in Jun 2000, so its 5.5 years, I have Labor applied 2 years back.

How many years the INS will extend my H1 Visa, Is it just 6 more months? or 1 year or 1 year+6 months?

Can I file just my H1 extension now or do I need to joint file with my wife (H4) after she comes back to USA?
