L1 to H1 - please help

I am currently in US on L1 visa. Before I reached US, one other company filed for my H1. Now the H1 is approved and I would like to work for the new company. Now can I apply to USICS to transfer my status from L1 to H1. Or do I need to go outside US and get my passport stamped with H1. Please help me.

Hi,
You can file change of status petition in US. But you need to make sure that the H1B petition does not require to travel home and re-enter with a visa stamping. Do contact the co./attorney who filed for you.
