Hello all,
2 questions.
Firstly, I'm the H-1B appilcant, I've got my petition and I'm now beginning the process of getting my visa stamp from the consolute. My spouse will be coming on a H4 visa, entering October 2014 (this year), but her passport expires August 2015. Should we renew her passport - does it need to be valid at least 3 years (typical H-1B length)?
Secondly, I don't understand how exactly she applies for the H4 visa. Does she not attend the same interview as me? I've listed her as a travel companion and spouse in the DS160 application, but I take it she needs to apply with a separate DS160 (citing my H-1B application number)? I understand she requires my passport, so does that mean I need to go into the consulate first, send away my passport and wait the for it to come back, before then she can schedule an appointment? We are travelling in 2 months time, and need to get this all out of the way sharpish!
