DS-156 query for a child applicant

Dear all,

My family is going to attend H4 visa interview in few days. Do we need to put thumb impression for the applicant signature in DS-156 for my two year old daughter or we can leave it blank ?

For my child's US passport, I signed in the space provided and in brackets put [Father]. Could be the same procedure. Did you read "filling instructions" Is it mentioned there?

Mother can sign on behalf of the kid. I did the same thing no issues.
