  • L1 to H1 effective date

    Hi,
I have a peculiar case. My L1 to H1 COS is approved and h1 i94 effective date is 1st Oct 2014. H1 is sponsored by different employer. My current L1 i94 is valid until 29 Oct 2014. My query is it legally acceptable to work with current employer until 29 Oct 2014 then after work with new employer who sponsored my h1?

No you cannot. Any employment with L1 employer post COS to H1 effective date is illegal. You have to join work with H1 employer and get paid by them from 01-Oct-2014 onwards.

This is my opinion not legal advice.
