L1B to H1B conversion

Are we eligible to switch to a different company after converting L1B visa to H1B visa? Currently i am in L1B visa and my visa is expiring in April 2016 and my company is applying H1B visa next year (2015). So if i get H1b visa my H1B will be valid from october 2015 and hopefully i will have valid visa till June 2017.
So during that period am i allowed to switch company here in US?
