H1+L1 combined stay

There are numerous posts in this forum regarding the topic but would like to get your valuable feedback specifically on my duration of stay. Thank you in advance for your time and response.
I have been in US from June 2007 - Feb 2012 (4 years 8 months) with approximately 50 days of stay outside US during this tenure. I applied for H1B in Apr 2014 and got my H1B petition. The duration given in my H1B is from Oct 2014 - Feb 2016 (1 year 4 months) with exactly the number of days left over from previous L1 stay. So old L1 + new H1 = 6 years.
I came back to US in Nov 2014. I have been outside US for more than an year (Feb 2012 - Apr 2014 given by petition would have been filed in Apr 2014). Can you please let me know
1) Why the new H1B petition was given exactly the number of days that equals 6 years between old L1 and the new H1?
2) If i apply for extension, will it go through ?
