Hello, I have a question and hope that someone will be able to provide an answer.
I last came to US on H1B in Jan 2014 and was given I94 until Sept 2014 (Not sure why). I changed job in June 2014 and new company applied for I797 which got approved and is valid untill May 2017. I797 came with the attached I94 as the bottom half and has a validity date of May 2017 as well.
My passport expired in Jan 2015 and I got a new Indian passport from Consulate here in US which is valid until 2025 (I applied for new passport after getting the latest I797) . Do I need to provide this passport information to USCIS or CBP? Will they map it with my I94 in any way?
Since, I have a valid I 94 that came with new I797, I do not believe that I am out of status or overstaying? Please can somebody confirm this.
