  • is i797 a must for H1B?

Hi, I just received my new EAD card and am preparing for the H1B application but I did not receive my i797 approval notice. I tried calling USCIS and they said it will take 3-6 months if I file another form which is no good for me because my application has to go out by April. Can someone help me please? Is i797 a must requirement for the application? Shouldn't the new EAD card itself serve as proof?

You have to provide more details. On what visa did you enter US? What is your current status? On what basis did you receive the EAD?
