H1 visa extension without travelling to US

Hi every one,

I hold H1 visa which expires on 18 Sep 2015 and I've never travelled to US till now. My manager told that I've to travel at least 60 days prior to the expiration date i.e latest by 18th July. While I was planning to initiate stamping process, there was a medical emergency at my home. My mother requires treatment for the next 6 months and my presence is very much required to take care of everything here. I learnt that extension of visa is possible without travelling to US once. Can someone please throw light on the process? Your help is very much appreciated.

You say your visa expires 18-Sep-2015, then why you initiating stamping process??
