Hi,
I've read many stories saying that the F1 visa can get denied if a person already has an approved I-140 visa.
I'm currently working in the US on H1-B visa, but plan to switch to F1 since I got admitted to a reputed school. I'm planning to do the following:
1. Apply for COS to F1 and work until I get a decision.
If approved: Quit and go to school.
If rejected: Continue with H1.
Some more clarifications:
1. I definitely cannot do part time school. This is a mandatory full time degree, so have to necessarily convert to F-1.
2. I don't plan on leaving the US if my COS gets approved. I'll just convert back to H-1 after finishing my MS.
I see some posts on related forums, but they're all really old posts (from 2006/2007). I'm curious what the current situation is like. Is there anyone who had their COS case approved (or sadly,) denied, when trying to convert from H-1B to F-1 with I-140 approved?
Can anyone suggest something to make this situation more easier to handle?
