On TN visa, and also approved for H1B, planning to make two trips

Hi,
Currently, I am on TN visa which is valid until 2018. I got approved for H1B in April 2015, which will be effective October 1.

My sister is sick and I am planning to go to Canada to be with her for her surgeries, for one week in August and two weeks in October.

Would I be re-entering from my first trip into US under TN ? Would I be able to re-enter under H1B on my second trip back in October?

Yes. You need to get your H1B visa stamped to re-enter and be in H1B status.
