H1B under extension, employer might lay me off

Hi, My current employer has filed for my extension of H1B visa on June 9 2015. I upgraded it to premium processing on Oct 2, 2015. I got RFE on 14 Oct, 2015. This is the first time extension after 3 years.

However, my current employer is also laying off people and since I am on bench I am worried. If I get laid off and I dont get my visa approved till then what are my options then ?

If your I-94 has expired and your employer lays you off you would have to leave US and find a new sponsor while outside US.

You can ask employer for a return ticket back to your home country.
