Old passport lost/stolen, going for h1b stamping in India

Hi all,

I came into the US on a F1 for Masters. My passport with the F1 visa was lost/stolen last year, after which I applied and got a new passport. My H1B petition was filed with the new passport number. Will there be any issues during stamping/travel to India in this situation. Do I have to carry any other documentation?

It depends. There is a specific question in DS160 that asks if your passport is lost or stolen and you need to answer YES to that question. Sometimes, this can trigger an administrative processing. But it will not have any impact on the visa approval. It just can sometimes get delayed.

Carry the report that filed with the authorities on your lost passport.
