I need a favor from you if you have or are going to apply for visa stamping appointment for H1-B for yourself or spouse in any consulate in India.

I want to know if the field mentioned in Petetion Details are editable once you enter them. The fields that I am concerned are -


Petetion Number
Petetioner Name
Petetion Expiry Date


You will need to go to vfs website and click edit/cancel existing application.

You really do not have to modify it once you click it. The changes can ignored.


Just 5 minutes of you time and it would do miracles for me !!!!
It will also let the forum know about new information which can be very helpful...

Petetion Number and Appointment chaos

The petetion fields are updatable which means that you can change employer between the date of appointment and 2 days before attending the interview. This will be a valuable information for everyone!

Able to change Petetion details?

Hi Neeraj,

Are you able to change petetion details like Petetion Number, Expiry date? I heard that we cannot change those fields and we should cancel the appointment to chnage them. When do you have stamping appointment date?

I did not change the petetion details, but I see the fields editable. This means that the fields can be changed.
The only fields that seems to be non-editable are the name, passport info, dob, etc.. ie first 14 fields of DS 156. This means that these fields cannot be changed.
This is just my personal opinion.
