L1 to H1B convertion

Hi Friends,

I need to know how can i convert my L1 to H1B if i get employed with any other company?
Do i need to go back to India for doing this? Is there a way I need not go back? What are the chances for getting one? Is there any other way i can get employed to my new employer?

Please let me know as I am stuck in between..
