I94 and visa expired but I797 valid

Hi All,

Below is my case in sequence

1. My visa is stamped till 08/14/2016
2. I got H1B extended with new I94 till 09/27/2017
3. Went to India on 05/01/2016 and returned back on 05/25/2016.
4. In POE i showed my I797 but forgot to check my I94 date.
5. Now while filing amendment i found out that my POE I94 expired on 08/14/2016

Please let me know how this can be resolved. My employer suggested me to walk in to CBP office and ask them to change the I94 date.
