Travel while 7th Year Extension pending....

Hi,

I am planning to travel to India in April. My passport stamping is till May 16th. My extension application may get approved in few weeks. My question is Can I travel to India and come back before my passport stamping expiry date of may 16th?

What qn may arise at the port of entry? I can show them the Approval for extension if they needed it....
