I am on an H1-B with one job. My present job has also been approved by the Ministry of Labor to obtain the green card. Only the permanent residence, though approved, may take from 1 to 2 years to be granted.
I would like to start doing administrative work for an LLC (company) that I will form with some associates that reside abroad. Since the H1-B I have does not allow me to work for another employer and receive payment unless authorized with another visa, I've decided I would work on a voluntary basis. I would not receive any payment / profits from my investment on this company until after I have a new status with my green card. The questions are:
1. Can I do this voluntary work without payment while at the same time working for my present employer?
2. Would it be considered lawful to start receiving the profits from this company some months after I receive my green card, since I wouldn't be on an H1-B status anymore?
