  • Please, I need some suggestions

    Hi,

I'm working on my H1 visa for little over 3 years now in the US. I just got my extension for 3 more years.

I need to visit India in May. Guess what? No appointments available in any of the consulates during first 3 weeks of May.

I know my case qualifies for Emergency Process. But it's the same case with emergency appointment dates too.

Does anyone know how this emergency process exactly works? Has anyone experienced it first hand?

    1. Can I travel to India with a June appointment. And then call the consulate to get it changed to May or something?

    2. I emailed the consulate and all they have to say is "keep checking our website we'll open dates shortly"!!!

    3. Is it safe to take this risk to visit India and assume I'd get an appointment within 7-10 days once I'm there?

    Appreciate your help.

    Thanks

      Hi,
Firstly while you start making the appointment you will have to choose the option visa for "Working in the US" and "India citizen resident in the US". It will allow you to choose which consulate you want to attend the interview. There are ample dates available at the US Consulate Calcutta. You will have to carry all proof that you are a returning worker.
