H-1B Amendment/Stamping

Hi,

I have applied for H-1B amendment in Aug 2016 which is still in progress.
Now, i also need to get my H-1B visa stamped in Apr 2017 since it is expired and i need to travel and return from India during that time. Can someone let me know if H-1B amendment needs to be completed before i can go for stamping or it is good without it ?
