H1b extension issue.

My h1b extension request getting expired (240 days) on 20th March'17. My employer applied for h1b premium on 28th Feb'17 but received RFE on 2nd Mar'17 and RFE response was replied to USCIS on 9th Mar'17. My employer informed that i should stop working immediately if no decision received by USCIS by 20th March. Now I have queriy like : what'll be legal problems can arise if I stay in USA after 240 days.

You can stay but cannot work.
